half time!

well, folks.  here we have the final league tables for the end of the year.  but remember - it's a course of two halves. so there's plenty of time yet for those of you languishing in the relegation zone to drag yourselves to safety.  the girl pemberton-platt done well and has opened up a healthy gap at the top, but it's a tough old game and there's a long way to go yet.

remember folks.  it's a marathon [infographic] not a sprint.

league tables

OK - this is a bit belated, as i forgot to do a league table at the end of may. but hopefully with a bit of judicious editing of the post-date, i can shoehorn it neatly into place:

la liga - otra vez

sara has threatened me with a UEFA enquiry, if i dinnae update the league table immediately to reflect the fact she wrote TWO reviews last month and not one.  so here ya go:

league table

hi folks.  it's that time of the month again:

easter lea-egg table

you want wit?... you want reparté?... you want riposte?... - well, you can bugger off!  i'm only doing this while on my easter holidays, as i'm procrastinating furiously, rather than go outside in the freezing cold to work on my motor.

so you'll have to make up your own football clichés, this month.

league table

as we hurtle ever faster towards the end of term, it's time for me to get out my abacus and work out the monthly league table standings again.

it looks like it's turning into a two horse race for the title, as kitty and rob have put a bit of clear blue water between themselves and karl, who's still leading the chasing pack.

complaints, protests and "i wrote six reviews last week. where are my points?" rants to the usual address, please:

league table

here we go again folks.  it's that time again, when i upload the latest league standings.

interestingly, some of the second years who have applied to go onto the degree courses at MMU next year have been receiving letters, inviting them to submit a 'digital portfolio' in the form of a blog containing 10-12 examples of their work, plus around 300 words discussing the work,  themselves and why they want to do the course they've applied for.

this is just for the right to earn yourself an interview.  yes folks - you've all heard the news stories about how universities are turning people away in their thousands this year.  well, they're true.  you've got to put a lot of effort in just to get even to the interview stage, these days.

if, as looks likely,  this is the wave of the future, then those of you who are in the habit of regularly recording their working processes digitally [like those lovely folks towards the top of this league table] are going to have plenty of ammunition to work with, come this time next year.  those of you who have been slightly er... 'less prolific' should ask yourselves what you're going to do, if you suddenly find yourselves clutching a letter giving you 14 days notice to get a digital portfolio together.

just a friendly hint!

latest league standings

well, folks.  i hope you've all had a spiffing chrimbo and new year and are raring to get back to college and get tore in again.  as an added incentive/disincentive [depending on your mindset], here is the state of play in the PDP league table, as of today:

table time!

well, folks. the end of the month is upon us again and, once more it's time to publish the league table and see who are the chart-topping groovesters and who are the none-hit wonders.

and what drama this month as the boy in the red top hat plays a blinder and, coming from nowhere, leap-frogs his way to the top of the table! meanwhile, down in the relegation zone, a long hard winter looms ahead for those wishing to avoid the drop.

in a league of your own [geddit?!]

i know that, in this day and age, competitiveness in the world of education is frowned on  and we're all meant to get a lollipop just for turning up.  but, in the spirit of 'politically correct non-competitive competitiveness', i've started doing a monthly bi-monthly 'whenever i can be arsed' league table for the second year PDPs -  just to let them see how they're all coming along with their PDP targets for the year.

like many of my half-arsed schemes, it has inadvertently proved hugely popular, so i thought i'd extend it to your first-years PDPs as well.  if we are to draw a footballing analogy, then the second years are the premier league and you lot are battling it out for the chance to join the big time, or be ignominiously relegated to the 'south manchester amateur has-been division B'.

so "play up! play up and play the game!" as someone [rudyard kipling?] once said.

in my managerial capacity, i shall of course be adopting a gruff scottish accent and shouting encouragement from the touchline, clad in a sheepskin coat and clutching a mug of bovril and a half-eaten pork pie.

[you get one point for a studio log entry, one point for a review and a half point for anything else, which disnae quite scale those exalted literary heights]
