cheap webhosting anyone?

I was intending to go with Dreamhost anyway as my brother is with them and he has a recommendation code that would get me about 70% off as a new customer....so I thought it was great when I saw this deal mentioned. So I went for it.
Basically they buggered it up, the discount wasn't applied and i've been signed up as a full $9-a-month customer....e-mailed 'em and got a reply back saying that there's apparently nothing that they can do. (remniscent of the Seinfeld 'reservation' episode)
...and because i'm no longer a first time customer now, my brother's recommendation code is obsolete.
